The England national team defeated France 6–4 in the third-place match at the 2026 World Cup.
In the third minute, Declan Rice intercepted the ball in midfield, advanced toward the penalty area, and fired a precise shot into the corner of the net. In the 18th minute, Ezri Konsa doubled England’s lead with a precise header off a corner kick.
In the 37th minute, winger Bukayo Saka made the score lopsided, and in stoppage time of the first half, he scored his second goal.
Early in the second half, Kylian Mbappé pulled one back, and shortly thereafter, Bradley Barcola cut the French deficit to two goals. In the 66th minute, Mbappé scored his second goal, but late in the match, Saka completed his hat trick by converting a penalty kick.
In stoppage time, Ousmane Dembélé scored France’s fourth goal, but England responded with a goal by Jude Bellingham.
