Koretsky has established himself as a successful crisis manager.

The new Prime Minister of Ukraine is a technocrat from the energy sector with no prior experience in the Cabinet of Ministers and no political connections. His main task is to prepare the country to weather another winter of war.

This is reported by the Bloomberg reports, analyzing the appointment of Serhiy Koretsky, who has spent most of his career in the private sector, primarily at energy companies.

Koretsky’s main task as prime minister will be to strengthen Ukraine’s energy and heating infrastructure so that it can withstand Russian attacks.

The new prime minister has established himself as a successful crisis manager in the business world.

He has also avoided any connection to the corruption allegations that have plagued Ukraine’s energy sector, Bloomberg notes.

The country is striving to prevent a repeat of the widespread power outages that Ukraine experienced last winter. Russia’s attacks left millions of Ukrainians without heat, electricity, and water during a severe cold snap, the agency notes.

Bloomberg also quotes a comment by Oleksiy Haran, a professor in the Department of Political Science at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, regarding Koretsky’s strengths.

“The fact that Koretsky is a political newcomer is an advantage for him at this stage,” Garan believes.

The political scientist added that Koretsky maintains political neutrality.

“And the fact that he is unlikely to play political games is very important for the president,” he explained.

For his part, People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted that Serhiy Koretsky is one of the few people in the government who has practical experience in various fields and who has proven his ability to achieve results.
