A New Residential Neighborhood Will Be Built Near Minsk

They plan to relocate 36,500 residents there.

Construction of the new Zeleny Bor residential district on the eastern outskirts of Minsk is scheduled to begin as early as the end of 2026. By 2030, the plan is to build nearly one million square meters of housing here, designed to accommodate approximately 36,500 residents, according to the state agency "Minsk-Novosti".

The new district will be located approximately three kilometers from the Minsk Ring Road, near Kolodishchi, along the promising route to Minsk National Airport. The total area of the site is about 1,900 hectares.

The first phase of construction is scheduled to be completed by 2030. During this time, plans call for the construction of approximately 952,000 square meters of housing. In the future, the area of multi-family housing is expected to exceed 2.9 million square meters, and the total area of all facilities—more than 4 million square meters.

The project includes not only residential buildings but also social infrastructure. Plans for the district include four kindergartens with more than 1,000 spots, schools for approximately 1,000 students, clinics, a hospital, an emergency medical station, sports facilities, a fire station, stores, and public spaces.

Plans for the new district also include the construction of new highways to connect it to Minsk, and, in the long term, the creation of a transportation corridor for high-speed rail service. In addition, plans include surface and underground parking lots, as well as multi-level parking structures.

Most of the territory of the future Zeleny Bor is currently part of the forest reserve. Previously, a military training ground was located here; after its closure, the area remained largely undeveloped. The development project has been under discussion for more than ten years. In recent years, it has been revised several times, including following public discussions with residents of neighboring Kolodishche, who expressed concerns about potential deforestation and increased strain on transportation and social infrastructure.
