The scale of the attack could exceed that of the recent "Epic Fury" operation.
The U.S. is considering a new large-scale attack against Iran, the scale of which could exceed that of the recent "Epic Fury" operation. President Donald Trump made this statement in an interview with Axios.
“I am considering a massive strike—more powerful than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are fully prepared for this,” he said.
He emphasized that Israel “would join in two minutes” if Washington asked, but added that the U.S. “doesn’t need anyone” to launch a new operation against Iran.
According to Trump, the possible decision to expand military operations is linked to Iran’s ongoing attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz: over the past 12 days, the U.S. has gradually escalated its strikes to stop these attacks, but Tehran, in his assessment, is not changing course and is itself stepping up its activities.
At the same time, the U.S. leader asserts that the Iranian leadership “wants negotiations” but “is not yet ready for a deal.” In the U.S. president’s view, Tehran “has not yet felt enough pain.”
Two regional sources familiar with the mediation efforts told Axios that Iran’s leadership has not accepted the latest proposal for a settlement. One of the publication’s sources stated that mediators are continuing their work, but the Iranian side is “not helping” to reach an agreement.
