Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has begun appearing in public as frequently as the leader of the Wagner Group did following the mutiny Yevgeny Prigozhin, the murder of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

At the same time, Putin’s “interaction” with the public was brief, the media reports. In total, the dictator spent about 40 seconds outside the car, according to footage published by Russian propagandist Pavel Zarubin on July 26.
The agency also pointed out that the video footage was published only two hours after “Putin’s meeting with the people.” As a result, it went almost unnoticed.
The last time Putin appeared in public on the street was in June during a visit to Kazan. Before that—a year ago, in July 2025—it was also on Navy Day in St. Petersburg.
In summary, the publication notes that the Russian dictator’s appearances among the public this summer are taking place against the backdrop of serious crises related to the war against Ukraine. Specifically, these include the logistical blockade of Russian-occupied Crimea, the fuel crisis, and attacks on Wildberries warehouses. As a result, Putin has faced a drop in his approval ratings.
According to the results of recent poll by the Russian Public Opinion Foundation, his approval rating dropped by 5% in just a few days. Thus, 66% of Russians rated Putin’s performance positively, down from 71% a week earlier.
At the same time, 16% of those surveyed rated his performance negatively—this also marked a new high since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian occupation forces.
