The head of government has already explained why he made that decision.

Moldova's Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has decided to resign from his post. The country's president, Maia Sandu, has already responded to his decision.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing a statement by Alexandru Munteanu.

Moldova’s Prime Minister Resigns—First Details

According to the head of government, his term as prime minister ends on July 3.

“The moment I realize that I can no longer carry out my duties in accordance with my principles and convictions, I choose to step down,” Munteanu said.

Moldova’s President Maia Sandu has already commented on the prime minister’s decision.

The country’s leader assured that she and Munteanu had never had any conflicts. Sandu also added that no one had interfered with his work.

As a reminder, Munteanu was elected head of the Moldovan government last fall. It is also known that he lived in Ukraine for more than 20 years but moved away when the war began.
