The country's prime minister said that the military was ready to shoot it down.
During yet another massive attack by Russia on Ukraine, a cruise missile entered Polish airspace and crashed on Polish territory in the Lublin Voivodeship. The incident was confirmed by the country’s prime minister Donald Tusk, who arrived at the scene.
“During Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine, there was a violation of Polish airspace. We are dealing with a serious incident,” he was quoted as saying by wp.pl.
Tusk praised the military’s coordinated response: according to him, initial data clearly shows that the relevant services—primarily the army and Polish pilots—acted quickly and effectively. Moreover, according to the prime minister, the country was prepared to shoot down the missile had it continued its flight deeper into Polish territory.
As for the type of missile, Tusk was cautious in his wording: “Everything indicates that we are dealing with a Russian Kh-101 missile, but we are not jumping to conclusions ahead of the results of a detailed investigation.”
No one was injured as a result of the incident, and no damage was reported. The prime minister himself, along with senior officials from the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of the Interior, immediately traveled to the missile’s impact site.
