Vance Has Emerged As The Leading Contender To Succeed Trump
J.D. Vance

The U.S. Vice President is experiencing the most successful period of his political career.

For U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, the summer marked a period of significant political rise. He has found himself in the spotlight thanks to a combination of media activity, diplomatic efforts, and the successful promotion of his own public agenda, which has significantly influenced his standing within the Republican camp, writes Axios (translation by Charter97.org).

According to sources close to U.S. President Donald Trump, Vance managed to make a strong impression on the president and solidify his status as a potential successor should Trump run in the 2028 election. His rivalry with Secretary of State Marco Rubio has effectively taken a back seat: the previously discussed comparison of candidates within the White House has become less relevant.

A key factor in Vance’s growing influence has been his actions in international politics. In mid-June, together with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, he helped advance a preliminary agreement with Iran, which is seen as a step toward ending the conflict. This episode strengthened his position as a negotiator and political player.

His public activities also provided additional momentum. In June, Vance gave dozens of interviews—ranging from conservative podcasts to appearances on popular television shows, including programs with diverse political audiences. At the same time, he promoted his new book, *Communion*, which heightened media interest in him.

Vance has also been highly active on the financial and political fronts. He has raised tens of millions of dollars in donations for the Republican National Committee, building his own network of donors and supporters—an important resource for a potential presidential campaign.

Polls paint a mixed picture: Vance’s national popularity among all voters remains low, but within the Republican Party, he enjoys significant support and leads a number of potential rivals, including Marco Rubio.

At the same time, potential risks are being discussed in political circles. Part of the conservative establishment criticizes his economic views and foreign policy positions, including his cautious criticism of certain segments of the Israeli political spectrum. This is causing tension within the right-wing camp, where different groups support various potential candidates.

Despite this, the view is increasingly being voiced within Trump’s inner circle that it is Vance who has gained the most political momentum and appears best prepared for a possible run for the presidency in 2028. Marco Rubio, according to sources, is not showing any clear willingness to participate in the primaries and is distancing himself from such a scenario.

As a result, a new power dynamic is taking shape within the Republican Party, in which J.D. Vance is playing an increasingly central role.
