A Lawmaker From The Party Of A Pro-Lukashenko Oligarch Was Detained In Armenia

He is accused of bribing voters.

In Armenia, former member of parliament Martun Grigoryan was detained in connection with a case involving voter bribery. This was reported by the Armenian service of "Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty". He was taken to the Anti-Corruption Committee.

During the parliamentary elections, Grigoryan was on the list of candidates for the “Prosperous Armenia” party, which ultimately failed to win seats in the National Assembly.

In May 2026, law enforcement officials searched his home and the party’s office, seizing documents and computers. Grigoryan stated at the time that they were looking for documents, receipts, and other information regarding fund transfers related to the parliamentary elections.

In July in Armenia, the leader of “Prosperous Armenia,” billionaire Gagik Tsarukyan, was detained; he was charged with large-scale fraud and money laundering. In August, his son-in-law and former lawmaker Argam Abrahamyan was arrested in connection with a contract killing case.

Gagik Tsarukyan and Alexander Lukashenko maintain close ties—Tsarukyan refers to him as “his friend.” The Belarusian Embassy in Armenia is located next to Tsarukyan’s mansion in the village of Arindzh on the outskirts of Yerevan.
