The Ukrainian president thanked Washington for striking "the right tone."
On the evening of August 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine had received information from the U.S. side regarding meetings in Moscow that took place in recent days.
He said this during his evening address.
The President of Ukraine thanked the American side for striking the necessary “tone in the conversation with Russia.”
“Today we received information from the U.S. side about the meetings in Moscow that took place in recent days. A series of meetings took place there. We spoke yesterday, and we are speaking now with the U.S. side. I am grateful for the information and for the necessary tone of the conversation with Russia,” he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine appreciates “the coordinated nature of these steps and the fact that the U.S. is promoting a very realistic vision of what needs to be done and what must be done.”
“Russia must end its war; we need to create all the conditions for this to happen,” he added.
The president did not provide further details about exactly which meetings he was referring to.
At the same time, it is worth noting that CIA Director John Ratcliffe recently visited Moscow. U.S. President Donald Trump subsequently expressed hope that “something might come of” the CIA director’s visit to Moscow.
