The “AdG” Youth Wing Opposed A Key Provision Of The Party’s Platform

The chairperson of the youth organization disagrees with the leader of the far-right German party on many points.

The youth wing of the German far-right party “Alternative for Germany” (“AfD”) is distancing itself from the party’s long-standing call for Germany to leave the eurozone.

The chairman of the youth organization “Generation Deutschland” (GD) Jean-Pascal Hom stated that, instead, they are seeking reforms aimed at addressing the shortcomings of the monetary system.

“We do not want Germany to leave the eurozone, but we want to address the existing structural flaws in the euro system,” he said.

GD plans to adopt an official position on this issue at its federal convention, which will take place on Saturday in Magdeburg.

The draft statement notes that the euro has strengthened the single European market but has “structural flaws,” and calls for reforms that will enhance stability without undermining Europe’s economic unity.

The “Alternative for Germany” (AfD) party, founded in 2013 as a Euroskeptic party, called on Germany to leave the eurozone in its 2025 election platform.

Hom, who is also a member of the AfD’s federal leadership, disagrees with party leader Alisa Weidel on the issue of migration.

While Weidel has called for Germany to leave the Schengen Area, Hom stated that the country should remain in it.

“GD” was founded last year as the AfD’s new youth organization after the party dissolved its previous youth wing, “Junge Alternative” (JA).
