Belarusian Parents Have Protested Against New Rules Governing Searches Of Students

"It's not a school—it's a maximum-security prison."
Starting September 1, 2026, a new policy will be implemented in Belarusian schools: selective inspection of students’ personal belongings and backpacks. Previously, the mandatory presence of parents was required to search minors. But under the new rules (Council of Ministers Resolution No. 307), the presence of a teacher is sufficient. Unsurprisingly, social media “exploded.” Parents of schoolchildren are in shock, writes UDF.

It looks like the next decree from the Belarusian Council of Ministers will be personal searches of teachers. And then alcohol, vapes, and drugs definitely won’t make their way into schools.
