A Russian Dry Cargo Ship Attacked Near Novorossiysk Was Swept Ashore In Turkey

The crew abandoned the ship in lifeboats.

The Russian dry cargo ship “Omsky-107,” which was damaged in an attack near Novorossiysk, drifted uncontrollably in the Black Sea and eventually ran aground near the Turkish city of Şile. This was reported by the Turkish news agency DHA.

According to the publication, the 108-meter vessel was carried by the current toward the coast near Alajali, where it was spotted by local residents. Footage has already appeared online clearly showing the extent of the damage to the dry cargo ship.

Turkish Coast Guard personnel quickly arrived at the scene—they cordoned off the coastal area and began inspecting the vessel. As it turned out, the “Omsky-107” sustained serious damage: part of the structure was charred, and some sections were completely burned out.

According to DHA, following the attack, the crew was forced to abandon the ship in lifeboats. Turkish authorities monitored the abandoned dry cargo ship’s movements until it was washed ashore and ran aground.
