U.S. President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting “strikes” on Harg Island—a site of critical importance to Iran’s energy exports. Trump accompanied the post with the caption: “Harg Island is being blown to smithereens.”

The AI-generated video shows an operator at a control panel in the foreground, with footage of simulated strikes on Iran’s oil and gas infrastructure and military ships in the background.

“Harg Island is being blown to smithereens. President Donald Trump,” read the caption under the video.

The post appeared amid an escalation of tensions surrounding Iran. On August 31, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it had struck U.S. military bases in Jordan—in response to a U.S. attack on the Iranian island of Larak.

Earlier reports indicated that U.S. forces had struck two IRGC missile launchers on Larak Island. The strike took place on Sunday, August 30—just as the launchers were preparing to fire missiles equipped with sea mines toward the Strait of Hormuz.
