A Jet-powered Drone Flew Over The Gomel Region Last Night

Belarusian territory is being used to launch attacks on Ukraine.
On the night of August 31, a Russian jet-powered drone used Belarusian airspace to launch an attack on Ukraine. At 2:30 a.m., a Ukrainian monitoring channel reported that the drone was heading toward Teryukha in the Gomel District, having entered from Ukrainian territory, according to “Flagstok”.
A few minutes later, the same drone was already heading toward Rechitsa, and then toward Vasilevichi. At 2:44 a.m.—toward Narovlia.
At 2:53 a.m., the drone was already maneuvering in the Narovlia area, prompting an air raid alert in the Zhytomyr region.
However, it appears this UAV headed in a different direction: around 3 a.m., it flew from Belarus into Ukraine, heading toward the exclusion zone in the Kyiv region.
The previous incursion of a Russian jet drone into the Gomel region was recorded on the morning of August 29. Prior to that, on the night of August 22, a “Banderole” drone circled over the region but never actually flew into Ukraine.
On the night of August 14, an incursion was recorded, and during the day, a Russian UAV took off from the Chernobyl zone in Belarus toward the Kyiv region.
There were no further reports of violations of Belarusian airspace on monitoring channels for the rest of the month. However, residents of the Gomel region observed drone flights.
On August 20, at around 5:25 a.m. in the Central District of Gomel, people heard unusual, very loud sounds in the sky. Based on eyewitness accounts, it can be assumed that the sound recorded was either a drone flying by followed by an explosion, or a fighter jet flying by.
On the evening of August 25, residents of Zhlobin heard a loud, distinctive sound and assumed that a jet-powered drone was flying over the city. That same evening, a fighter jet was observed flying low over the workshops of the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant and in the city center.
Thus, at least 7 Russian UAVs flew into the Gomel Region throughout August.
The actual number of overflights over the Gomel Region may be several times higher. With the shift to jet-powered UAVs, the number of recorded overflights has likely decreased. Due to their higher speed, these drones spend less time in flight, and they lack the characteristic “moped-like” sound.
