Leps Refused To Travel To Occupied Crimea

Z-singer Grigory Leps, who openly supports Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, has canceled his scheduled concerts in occupied Crimea, citing current power supply restrictions and the difficult situation in the region as the reasons for his decision.

He announced this on his Instagram page, according to Dialog.UA.

The performances were scheduled for August 11 and 12 in Feodosia and Yalta, but the concerts will not take place and have been postponed. A Putin supporter advised returning tickets to the places where they were purchased and expressed hope to meet with the audience in a year.

Specifically, after one of his concerts in the summer of 2023, the Z-singer publicly promised to pay 1 million rubles for every Ukrainian Armed Forces tank destroyed. He also repeatedly sent so-called “humanitarian aid” to the Russian Armed Forces, which included body armor, underwear sets, and food. Leps spoke about this in his interviews.

In recent weeks, residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea have regularly faced large-scale power outages. The Russian-controlled authorities on the peninsula attribute these outages to “technical malfunctions” and power grid overloads. At the same time, a number of experts link the prolonged blackouts to damage to energy infrastructure caused by systematic strikes by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
