Lukashenko Assembled Two "battalion-tactical Groups" Made Up Of Officials Who Had Committed Offenses

Alexander Lukashenko stated that two groups totaling about 500 people had been assembled from “negligent officials and specialists,” whom he himself described as “battalion-tactical.” He has now proposed deploying them to work on neglected farmland in the Minsk Region and demanded that all of the region’s fields be returned to crop rotation by next year.
During a trip to the Vileika District, while surveying the Minsk Region from a helicopter, Lukashenko criticized the condition of some farmland and stated that certain fields are overgrown with weeds and have effectively been excluded from crop rotation.
“All fields must be returned to crop rotation next year. All of them! Do whatever you want there. Bring in whoever you want,” he demanded of his officials.
As an additional labor force, Lukashenko proposed using people whom the authorities had previously decided to send to military training camps for various offenses and poor performance.
“Take these two battalion-tactical groups that were formed from negligent officials and specialists. Do you understand what I’m talking about? There are about 500 of them now. I call them ‘two battalion-tactical groups,’” said Lukashenko.
It is precisely these offenders, in his view, who should be put to work restoring agricultural land to order.
“Please, make them work here in the name of the revolution. Do whatever it takes, but get everything in order. Take a helicopter and fly around; you’ll see what I’m talking about,” the dictator declared.
As a reminder, in July Lukashenko ordered those who had been disciplined during the harvest be sent to military training camps. In every district of the country, the chair of the district executive committee, together with the military commissar and farm managers, must compile lists of “negligent and misbehaving workers, slackers, drunkards, idlers, and lazybones.”

The head of the Grodno Region Yuri Karaev said that there were “a couple of dozen” people there who could be sent to military training camps. According to him, these were people who, during the harvest, tried “either to make a quick profit or to resolve some other personal matters.”
In the Mogilev Region, military commissars have already visited more than 100 agricultural organizations in the region and compiled a list of about 40 potential candidates with a high likelihood of being drafted into the army. This figure was reported on the pro-government TV channel STV.
