European representatives at the G20 summit supported this position.

German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance Lars Klingbeil stated that he refused to participate in a group photo with the Russian finance minister and the Russian delegation at the G20 summit.

According to him, European representatives supported this position, so the final group photo was taken without representatives from the aggressor country.

Klingbeil said that during the plenary session, he personally addressed the Russian finance minister and called on the Russian government to end the war against Ukraine.

He also emphasized that Germany and Europe unequivocally stand with Ukraine. According to the German politician, representatives from different countries can openly criticize one another and discuss the war directly at the negotiating table.

However, a joint “family photo” with the Russian delegation would, in his view, be far too inappropriate under the current circumstances.
