The U.S. Has Uncovered A Russian Intelligence Network That Was Planning Assassinations And Acts Of Sabotage Around The World

The Ministry of Justice has published an indictment listing specific names.
The U.S. Department of Justice reported that a group of Russians has been charged with planning and carrying out assassination attempts and acts of sabotage “around the world, including in the United States,” on behalf of Russian intelligence agencies,
According to the indictment, the network had been operating since at least 2024 and focused on Russian dissidents and defectors, as well as on countries that Russia considers allies of Ukraine.
Recently, its members attempted to recruit several people in the United States to carry out surveillance and assassinations within the country.
Among the defendants is 63-year-old former Russian intelligence colonel Yuri Khrameev, known as “Colonel Yuri,” who participated in recruiting individuals to carry out assassinations of alleged Russian dissidents; his son Kirill Khrameev, 27, an officer with Russia’s Federal Security Service; a Cuban citizen, Oemis Romagosa Durruti, 35, “an influential member of the Cuban diaspora living in Russia who coordinated attacks on behalf of the network”; Also, a Cuban national Yaydel Delgado Suárez, known as “Viking,” recruited or attempted to recruit several individuals in the United States; and a Venezuelan citizen Ángel Eduardo Castro, who participated in recruiting individuals to conduct surveillance and attempt to assassinate a prominent Russian dissident residing in the United States.
Last year, according to the indictment, members of the network recruited a U.S. citizen first to conduct surveillance and then to assassinate a Russian opposition figure living in Lithuania.
The network also allegedly recruited other individuals to carry out acts of sabotage in Europe. According to the Department of Justice, Oemis Romagosa Durruti coordinated an attack in the Czech Republic in June 2024 and another in Lithuania in September 2024.
“Yuri Khrameev, Kirill Khrameev, Oemis Romagosa Durruti, Yaidel Delgado Suárez, and Ángel Eduardo Castro are charged with participating in a conspiracy to finance terrorism, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Yuri Khrameev, Suárez, and Castro are also charged with participating in a conspiracy to commit a contract killing, for which the maximum penalty is 10 years in prison,” according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice.
