Successful Counterattacks By The Ukrainian Armed Forces Thwarted New Russian Operations On The Front Lines

ISW analysts have revealed the details.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian invaders have attempted to advance along various sectors of the front. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped the enemy in time.

This was reported by Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Kharkiv Oblast

Russian troops continued offensive operations in northern Kharkiv Oblast and toward Velykyi Burluk, but were unable to advance due to counterattacks by Ukrainian forces.

In the Kupiansk sector on September 1, Russian forces also carried out limited assaults, but no confirmed advances were recorded. Defense forces continued to counterattack.

The day before, Russian sources circulated videos claiming that Russian soldiers were in Velyka Shapkivka, southwest of Kupiansk and north of Kupiansk-Uzlovyi. Based on this footage, the occupiers claimed their forces were advancing.

At the same time, ISW analysts believe the videos may have been fabricated or generated using artificial intelligence.

Yesterday, Russian troops continued offensive operations toward Borova, but were unsuccessful due to counterattacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to Russian sources, Ukrainian forces counterattacked west of Borova—north of Sheikovka, near Redkodub and Novoye, as well as in the direction of Yekaterinovka, southeast of Borova.

Some Russian military bloggers acknowledged the Ukrainian troops’ advance and their tactically significant successes on this section of the front.

Donetsk Oblast

On August 31 and September 1, Russian invaders continued offensive operations in the Slavyansk direction, but made no confirmed advances.

It is also known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out new counterattacks both north and south of Liman, located northeast of Sloviansk.

In addition, the Russian Armed Forces conducted offensive operations in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlovsk sectors. At the same time, no confirmed successes or advances by Russian forces were recorded.

On September 1, Russian troops conducted limited offensive operations in the Oleksandrivka sector, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to repel the enemy.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast

On August 31 and September 1, Russian troops conducted limited offensive operations in the Huliaipole sector, but did not achieve any confirmed advances.

At the same time, Ukrainian forces continued to launch medium-range strikes against Russian targets and logistics routes in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region.

In particular, Ukrainian drones attacked vehicles on the M-14 Rostov–Crimea highway, as well as on the H-30 Berdiansk–Tokmak–Vasylivka highway north of Tokmak.

Sumy Oblast

Over the past 24 hours, the Russian military continued its offensive in the north of Sumy Oblast but was unable to break through.

Russian military bloggers claimed that the occupiers entered Ulanovo and advanced near Potapovka and Sadkov—all of these settlements are located northwest of Sumy. However, there is no confirmation of these claims yet.
