U.S. President Donald Trump stated on September 2 that the Strait of Hormuz is under U.S. control and proposed changing its name.

This was stated in a post by Trump on the social media platform Truth Social.

The U.S. president wondered whether the Strait of Hormuz should be renamed the “Trump Strait.”

Trump explained his proposal by saying that, in his words, the strait is currently under U.S. control.

“Now that it’s under U.S. control, shouldn’t we rename the Strait of Hormuz the ‘Trump Strait’? Just like America itself, it will be ‘hotter’ than ever before!” wrote the White House chief.

Earlier, the U.S. president stated that the renewed American military campaign against Iran would not last long.

He also said that U.S. forces had destroyed new equipment that Iran had been trying to install along the Strait of Hormuz.
