Mass production of more than 5,000 long-range strike UAVs for Ukraine has begun in Munich. The first units have already been built. This was reported by the publication Handelsblatt.
A joint venture between the German-American defense company Auterion and the Ukrainian company Airlogix was established in February of this year. Another production facility is planned to be launched in eastern Germany in the near future.
An order totaling 300 million euros was received from the German government. It is scheduled to be completed by mid-2027.
Two UAV models will be produced as part of this order. One of them has a medium flight range, while the other is capable of traveling up to 1,500 km.
Auterion is responsible for the software and the UAV control system, while Airlogix manufactures the drones themselves. The drones are intended for strikes against Russian rear-area targets.
A key feature of the UAVs is their integrated artificial intelligence technology. With this technology, the drone will be able to continue moving toward its target despite active enemy electronic warfare.
“As early as this year, we will deliver proven and reliable systems at a price and production rate that will truly allow us to build up large stockpiles for deterrence,” he said.
Vitaly Kolesnichenko , CEO of Airlogix , highlighted the importance of this collaboration.
“This partnership brings together what neither company could achieve on its own: our battle-tested UAVs, Auterion’s autonomous software, and Germany’s industrial capabilities,” Kolesnichenko stated.
