Rent prices for apartments in Minsk and other major cities are shocking Belarusians.

“Sorry, I’ve had enough!” writes angie_lika03 on Threads. “I’m curious—who’s driving this rapid rise in apartment rental prices in Minsk? It’s just a nightmare. People aren’t ashamed to rent out “grandma’s old apartments” for $450+. Of course, I understand—having your own apartment is great, and you can make some extra money. But at least do some basic renovations and fix up the kitchen, instead of this hodgepodge of random stuff. Peeling tile in the bathroom, painted wooden floors, dirty wallpaper.”
Many users agreed with the author of the post and explained the reasons behind the rise in housing prices. The website Charter97.org shares some comments:
