Bishkek Responds to Rumors of Mobilization in Russia.
Kyrgyz authorities will implement an automated system for tracking the length of stay of foreign nationals and will use it to monitor compliance with immigration regulations, according to 24.kg.
Those who overstay their permitted stay in the country will be barred from future entry. The decree was signed by Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev. The initiative will be implemented using the Unified System for Recording External Migration. It records border crossings, the registration of foreigners, as well as the issuance of visas, work permits, and residence permits.
Those who violate the terms of their stay in the republic will be denied re-entry for a period equal to the length of time they were permitted to stay in the country without a visa. For Russians, this is 90 days out of every 180.
Previously, entry rules for foreigners, as reported by The Moscow Times, had already been tightened by Kazakhstan. Since August 25, a system of paid electronic permits has been undergoing testing there for citizens of countries that do not require a visa, including Russians. Starting November 1, the requirement will become mandatory for those arriving by plane; starting on the 30th, the permit will need to be presented at land border crossings; and starting December 15, at rail and sea crossings.
Immigration restrictions in Central Asian countries are being introduced amid rumors of preparations for a new mobilization in Russia. According to Western intelligence reports, the Kremlin may announce it after the September State Duma elections.
