Officers of Partyzanski district militia department: we were ordered not to arrest Afnahel

Activist of the civil campaign “European Belarus” was detained in Minsk center today.

At 5.00 p.m., 5 or 6 officers of riot militia came up to the oppositionist on Victory square and asked to show his ID. However, they didn’t wait for him to perform their demand, pulled the activist into a car, and took him to the Paartyzanski district militia department of Minsk.

Afnahel wasn’t said why he had been detained. The oppositionist was set free after an hour, the report wasn’t drawn up. On a question why he was detained the activist of “European Belarus” received a strange answer. Militiamen said “riot militiamen were ordered to detain him, but militia got an order not to arrest him.”
