Oppositionists fined 7 million rubles for failed rally

On October 13 the court of Chyhunachny district of Homel tried 7 pro-democracy activists.

As BelaPAN informs, on September 16, 16 oppositionists planned to hold a rally of solidarity with the families of the abducted, but were detained by police on their way to the place where the event was held. As a result, the rally hadn’t taken place.

At the session of the court policemen claimed that all the detained marched along the street in an organized column, and held portraits of disappeared Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski. Activists stated that they were not carrying anything, as the rally was to start on Uprising square. Finally, all the oppositionists who faced the trial were fined for violation of the order of holding mass events. Uladzimir Myshak and Maryna Smyahlikava were fined 20 basic units (700,000 BYR), Uladzimir Nyapomnyashchykh was fined 25 basic units (875,000 BYR), Ivan Zayats 30 baisc units (1 mln 50 thousand BYR), Yury Zakharanka, Vasil Palyakou and Alyaksandr Pratsko are to pay 40 basic units (1 mln 400 thousand BYR).
