Uladzimir Lemesh has lodged a complaint to the Prosecutor’s office of Tsentralny district of Minsk with a demand to carry out procuracy check in connection with his abduction by policemen on November 27.
The activist of “European Belarus” civil campaign demands to find out the names of the people who are in charge of his seizure, and to punish them under the law, “European Belarus” website informs.
“Such actions as forcible abduction of a person and forcible taking one in an unknown direction are legal. And even when it is done by policemen, it is banditism. I believe that by these actions policemen violated my right for freedom and personal inviolability. I will fight for human rights in Belarus to be respected, and if an answer of the proscutor’s office won’t satisfy me, I will defend my rights in court and in the UN Human Rights Committee,” Uladzimir Lemesh said.
We remind that on November 27 in the evening Uladzimir Lemesh was seized in central Minsk, forced to get into a car without license plates and taken out of town.
The oppositionist was detained by two policemen ahead of a street action in honour of an anniversary of the Slutsk Uprising near the editor’s office of “Vyacherni Minsk” in Independence Avenue and ordered to show his ID. He as taken away his passport and mobile phones, forced to get into a blue Volkswagen minibus with blinded windows.
The activist was taken outside the city, and after that released, but threatened not to continue his political activities.
