Inspections of Polish Houses held all over Belarus

1

On December 8 tax inspection visited the Polish House in Baranavichy. Tax inspectors were interested whether paid services are provideв to the population.

As the director of the Polish House Tereza Selivonchyk told to Radio Svaboda, paid services to the population were not provided by them.

She also told that tax officers were interested whether activists of Polish movement paid money for maintaining the institution, for communal services. Earlier the Polish House was visited by ideology workers.

Such attention is explained by the fact that Baranavichy activists support the Union of Poles in Belarus headed by Anzelika Borys, which is still not recognized by the Belarusian government. Tereza Selivonchyk notes that their House in Baranavichy was built for the money of the Polish government. Earlier the same checks were held in other cities of Belarus.

Belarus We remind that the Union of Poles of Belarus was split with the help of the Belarusian authorities some years ago. The pro-governmental part of the organization was recognized officially. The Unions of Poles of Belarus, led by Anzelika Borys and supported by the Polish government, suffers persecution in Belarus.

The Belarusian authorities have difficult relations with official Warsaw due to the Union of Poles. At the beginning of the Belarusian-Polish conflict, in 2005, Alyaksandr Lukashenka accused Poland of brainwashing the Belarusian Poles through the Union.
