Afghan war veterans sue “Sovetskaya Belorussiya”

Co-chairmen of the organizing committee for creation of the Afghan war veterans association “Fatherland Defenders” have filed two suits against the newspaper of the presidential administration of Lukashenka, “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” to the court of Savetski district of Minsk.

Aleh Vouchak and Alyaksandr Kamarouski have filed suits for defence of their honour and dignity.

“On February 12, 2009 “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” published an article, a letter of Illya Ryzhankou called “We are not a crowd of extras for provocateurs”, Alyaksandr Kamarouski told. “Untrue information discrediting my honour, dignity and business reputation was published in the article. Thus, it was written in the article: “And in general, isn’t it immoral that misters Autukhovich, Vouchak and Kamarouski, who are young and full of life, envy 90-year-old veterans of the World War II?.. These smart guys, businessmen, couldn’t imagine something better than to demand certificates of WWII veterans, free denture treatment, and they moan to everyone that they had to eat salty fish and rancid butter in Afghanistan. Poor things…”

Co-chairmen of the organizing committee for creation of the Afghan war veterans association “Fatherland Defenders” ask the court to recognize information published on February 12, 2009 in “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” discrediting honour, dignity and business reputation and contrary to fact, “Belarusian partisan” informs.

Besides, Aleh Vouchak and Alyaksandr Kamarouski ask to compel the editorial office to refute the information written in the article by publishing the resolution of the court no later than one month after the court decision coming into force, and collect from the editorial office and I. Ryzhankou money for covering state duties and payment for legal assistance.
