2

The conditions of the contract between Belenergo and Inter RAO UES are not still disclosed by Belarusian officials.

On Friday Belenergo and Inter RAO UES signed a contract for the supply and transit of Russian electricity in 2010, Interfax was told by spokesperson for the Belarusian Energy Ministry Lyudmila Zyankovich.

“Today in Moscow Belenergo and Inter RAO UES have signed a contract for 2010 on conditions of electricity import to Belarus and transit of Russian electricity via Belarus,” Zyankovich said.

As said by her, conditions of the contract “are not revealed yet”.

As it was informed, since the second decade of January the Belarusian Energy Ministry of Belarus noted constrictive character of talks and rapprochement of positions on the issues of Russian power deliveries to Belarus in 2010 and its transporting via Belarus to the Baltic states and Kaliningrad Region of Russia.

By January 2010 these positions hadn’t been reconciled yet.

Belenergo stated that there were reasons for increase of a charge for commercial transfer of Russian electricity via its networks considering the expected increase of expenses caused by increase of volume of deliveries to Lithuania in 2010. According to forecasts, the volume of transfer via Belarus would increase eightfold as there is electricity deficit in Lithuania, which would increase Belarusian expenses.

Inter RAO UES representativeness said that Belenergo offered to increase the charge by factor of 2.5, and before the talks in Minsk on January 12 the Belarusian side was told to demand increase by factor of more than 5.5.

In the end of the last year the Russian company sent its proposals on conditions of power deliveries. Belenergo named the increase offered by the Russian side insignificant and not allowing recompensing expenses.
