Andrei Sannikov: “It is an awful tragedy for Poland, Belarus, Europe and the whole world”

Politicians who have died in the air crash, in their relations with Belarus were committed to principles of respect to human rights.

Having learnt about the plane crash with the President of Poland Lech Kaczynski and many Polish politicians, state and public leaders on board, the leader of “European Belarus” civil campaign Andrei Sannikov stated:

“It is an awful tragedy for Poland, for Belarus, for Europe and the whole world. First of all, we should express condolences to all the Poles, as it is a black date in Poland’s history. They have lost their best representatives; they have lost their president, who all his life was fighting for interests of Poles and his state. Lech Kaczynski was a real European, and he was a person who in the European politics was steadfast to the principles on which observance the European Union should be firmly based. Lech Kaczynski was a consistent Atlantist and determinedly fought for stronger relations of the US and Europe.

What has happened in the sky over Smolensk is a tragedy for Belarus as well, as those politicians and statesmen who were committed to principles of ethics and respect to human rights in relations with our country were in the plane. And President Kaczynski was undoubtedly the leader of this policy. It is very hard even to realize these events fully, and now we can only express sincere condolences to the families, loved ones and the whole Polish nation,” Andrei Sannikov said.
