Belarus ranks first in imposing restrictions on Russian goods

2

As of May 1, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development recorded 93 sanctions on import of Russian goods imposed in 22 countries.

As Interfax reports, Belarus has the largest number of restrictions on Russian goods (22). The European Union takes the second place with 17 sanctions. According to the report, most restrictions were imposed on metal and chemical products (28 and 14 respectively).

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin noted in 2009 that Russian metal products were discriminated against in many countries. Putin also noted the Russian domestic market should be protected from dumping.

Later, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade announced other countries may extend restrictive measures against Russian goods. However, as the Ministry of Economic Development says, the number of restrictive measures hasn’t changed since 2009.
