Svyataslau Baranovich charged in December 19 case

Svyataslau Baranovich has been charged with taking part in mass riot.

He is a new, the 46th person, involved in the criminal case over the events after the Belarusian presidential elections, Radio Racyja reports.

The guy will remain in the detention facility in Valadarski Street until the end of investigation, human rights activists say.

According to Anastasia Loika, a lawyer saw Svyataslau Baranovich yesterday, but it remains unknow whether the guy was in a team of any presidential candidate or belonged to any political organization.

“The young man was charged with violating part 2 of article 293 “taking part in mass riot”. He is now in custody in the detention facility in Valadarski Street. He will remain there until trial. As he was presented charges, a period of investigation was extended till September. They have three months for investigation.”

According human rights defenders, earlier, the activist was arrested for ten days after the post-election protests.

Charges in connection with events on December 19 have been brought against 46 persons. After that the Belarusian law-enforcement agencies declared the investigation was completed. Lots of the accused, including Svyataslau Baranovich from Vileika, still wait for trials, which are likely to be held in autumn.
