Authorities forbid pickets of solidarity with political prisoners

The ban has been imposed in Hrodna, Baranavichy and Byarozauka.

Local activists applied for pickets of solidarity with arrested human rights defender Ales Byalyatski and the other political prisoners. However, they have been refused everywhere. The human rights centre “Vyasna” informs about it. The ban is explained by various reasons. Violations of the rules of sending applications, the mentioned political prisoners and violation of the rules of mass actions by the activists are among them.

Solidarity pickets were planned to take place in 17 cities, informs Radio Liberty. It is not clear whether they will be organized regardless of the ban or not.
