France demands to release all prisoners of conscience

France reiterated its demand to release all Belarusian prisoners of conscience, including three former presidential candidates.

“This is a prerequisite for a constructive dialogue”, says the statement by the French Embassy to Minsk released on 16 August.

France “notes the pardon of 9 political prisoners by the Belarusian President on 11 August; a move we have called for, which is a step forward”, stresses the statement.
