Political prisoner Bandarenka shocked by Grybauskaite’s statement

Zmitser Bandarenka, the coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign, made the first phone call to his wife from a penal colony in Mahilou.

He says his health did not improve. He is in a medical unit undergoing some rehabilitation procedures after a spine surgery. According to the political prisoner, this is rather supportive treatment than rehabilitation. Nevertheless, Zmitser Bandarenka does not have claims to the prison authorities, Volha Bandarenka told charter97.org.

The political prisoner said he received letters from his family and ordinary people and thanked everyone for support.

Zmitser Bandarenka read in newspapers about accusations of the Belarusian opposition by Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite. He was shocked by her words, he says.

The political prisoner worries about presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov and Young Front leader Zmitser Dashkevich, who are transferred to other penal colonies.
