Human rights activist Valer Shchukin was tried in the city court of Orsha.
He was fined 1,190,000 rubles. A fine of 4 basic units (140,000 rubles) was issued for disorderly conduct and a fine of 30 basic units (1,050,000 rubles) was given for showing disobedience to police, Radio Svaboda reports.
Shchukin was detained on March 29 during the trial over head of Fair World Party Syarhei Kalyakin, leader of the UCP Party Anatol Lyabedzka and coordinator of European Belarus civil campaign Alyaksandr Atroshchankau.
Shchukin was protesting against holding the trial behind the closed doors. After policemen barred entrance to the second floor, where the trial was held, Valer Shchukin blocked the door so that police officers could not open it. Shchukin was told after the detention he had hindered the work of the court. He spent the night in a detention centre.
