Belarus will never recognize Kosovo's independence

14

This was stated by Ambassador of Belarus in Serbia Vladimir Chushev.

"Kosovo wounds are very painful here. Three years ago, our nuns visited St. Petka Church in the village of Drsnik near Klin (Kosovo - Telegraf) and brought the holy icons," he said.

The diplomat also said that Belarus and Serbia had the potential for intense relationships in the economy, culture, sports, education and humanitarian work. "Over the past five years, trade between our two countries has tripled. It reached a record high level of $145 million last year. We have an ambitious plan to enter $500 million," the diplomat told the publication "Vecherњe novosti."

"We are not just business associates. Our and Serbian scientists co-operate in the ten research projects in medicine, biology and high technology. Our cultural cooperation is even on a deeper level," said Vladimir Chushev.

Kosovo is not the only self-declared country whose independence is not recognized by the Belarusian authorities. Thus, Minsk is still unwilling to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, separated form Georgia.
