Leuchanka - About Khizhynkova's Situation: It's Inhumane

The system has degraded completely.

Belarusian basketball titlist Alena Leuchanka shared in an interview with Youtube-channel "Chasnok" her opinion on the situation around Miss Belarus 2008 Volha Khizhynkova, who was not released after 33 days of arrest.

"It's inhumane, because the trial just goes on and no one knows anything. Everyone who works in Akrestsina has families, children, parents, husbands, and wives. It is possible to make a phone call at least. Not to the family, but at least to the lawyer. After all, you know that people will be standing around waiting.

I'm sure they read all the social networks, all the telegram channels. This system is purposely trying to get under the skin, to bite, to hurt and displease. But the person has been in jail for such a long time, she's a girl," - Leuchanka said.

Volha Khizhynkova was detained during the protest on November 8, and three days later she was sentenced to 12 days in jail. At that, the witness to her detention was wandering in his testimony, and the case was eventually sent for revision.

A day later she was tried under the same Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (violation of the order of organizing or holding mass events) for the second episode - and got another 15 days.

Soon Khizhynkova was tried for the third time, where she was punished with 15 more days. Initially it was assumed that this term would be counted from the time of the trial, as, according to the lawyer, indicated in the ruling, but on 11 December Volha Khizhynkova was not released.
