Football Matches Postponed In Belarus: Government Scared Of Protests

Yesterday, during the football game between Shakhtar and Dynama Brest, the fans of both teams chanted “Long Live Belarus!”.

In the morning, selling of tickets to the game Dynama Minsk vs Smaliavichy was suspended. The game was supposed to take place on August 7 at the Dynama Stadium in Minsk. Later, the Belarusian Football Federation announced that the game had been postponed, as well as another game previously scheduled to take place in Minsk.

Important to note, during yesterday’s match in Salihorsk between Shakhtar and Dynama Brest, the practically fully packed stands started chanting “Long Live Belarus!”. After this, blogger NEXTA in his Telegram channel reminded that today another game of the Belarusian championship would take place in Minsk at the Dynama stadium.

The Belarusian Football Federation has informed that the game will be postponed till next week. The same concerns another game that was supposed to take place at the Tractor stadium in Minsk.

- The Belarusian Football Federation, referring to Claim 5.5.4 of Article 5 of the Standing Order of the Football Championship of the Republic of Belarus -2020, basing on the decision of the Executive Board of the Belarusian Football Federation dated August 7, 2020, is postponing the matches of the 21st tour “Belarusbank - Top League” of the season 2020 Dynama Minsk vs Smaliavichy, which was previously scheduled for today, till August 14. The game Minsk vs Slavia Mazyr is postponed from August 8 till August 12.

In connection with the above, the game of 1/16 finals “Parimatch - Cup of Belarus” of the 2020-2021 season with the participation of Dynama Minsk and NFC Krumkachy is postponed from August 14 to a later term, and the postponed match of the 9th tour “Belarusbank - Top League” with the participation of football clubs Minsk and Nioman (Hrodna) is moved from August 15 to August 17, - the Federation’s website informs.
