Occupiers Pushed Back 40 Kilometres: US Reported About AFU Counterstrike Near Kharkiv

The Russian troops wanted to break through to Donbass, but were defeated.

Ukrainian defenders have carried out a counterattack in a number of directions, which allowed to push back the Russian army 25 miles (about 40 kilometres) from Kharkiv, American "Foreign Policy" journalist Jack Detsch wrote on Twitter.

"They hoped to get Kharkiv and hold it to advance into Donbass, but were forced to retreat further," an unnamed senior US defence official stressed.
