Armed Forces Of Ukraine Could Disrupt Entire Defense System Of Russian Federation In The South

It is important for Ukrainian soldiers to cross the Inhulets River.

Military expert, reserve colonel Oleh Zhdanov spoke about the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian military in the South of Ukraine. According to him, it is important for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cross the Inhulets River in the Kherson region. This will allow in the future to accumulate troops there, and develop an offensive against Nova Kakhovka.

It will also be strategically important to establish control over the bridge over the hydroelectric dam in Nova Kakhovka, Zhdanov said in an interview with "Новое время".

According to him, the Russian occupiers use the bridge across the Novokakhovskaya hydroelectric power station to ensure the group of troops, which is located near Kryviy Rih.

"If we go to Nova Kakhovka, and control this bridge or the way out from this bridge, then we will cut off the grouping of Russian troops, and it will be almost surrounded, which is located near Kryviy Rih," Zhdanov said.

When the Armed Forces of Ukraine crossed the river, where it was enforced, the Ukrainian servicemen drove the Russian occupiers out of a number of settlements. These settlements are located on the heights, which provides more advantageous positions for the Ukrainian military.

"The Muscovites' troops retreated to the steppe, they have a bare field there, where they must equip the defense line in the engineering dimension. And we have heights that surpass them. That is, our positions are more advantageous, and we can hold the defense and start counter-offensive operations, to attack from our positions; and they have a problem with what to cling to in order to create a defense," the expert emphasized.

The main goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is to cut this Russian grouping in half on the right bank of the Inhulets.

He explained: in order to defend Kherson, the occupiers need to transfer the main defense efforts now also to the north of Kherson or to the north-west of Kherson. And near Kryvyi Rih, the grouping should generally turn 180 degrees in order to build defensive structures or defense lines behind its back.

"And the second point: they need to decide how they will provide for this grouping, to cross the Dnieper by boats — you can’t bring a lot of ammunition on boats, and you won’t be able to bring fuel and lubricants either. Indeed, this breakthrough can disrupt the entire system in southern Ukraine, the system of defense of the occupiers," the military expert noted.

Important to note, as reported by the Pivden operational command, the enemy seeks out means and measures to counter the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian forces. Special forces of the invaders blew up bridges across the Inhulets River in the area of Davydov Brod and Velyka Oleksandrivka.
