Putin Afraid To Attend Prigozhin's Funeral

Peskov said the Kremlin had no information on the event.

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the funeral of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of PMC Wagner, who died in a plane crash, the head of state's press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said, reports the BBC.

According to Peskov, the Kremlin has no specific information about the funeral.

On Tuesday 29 August, a police cordon appeared at the Serafimovskoye cemetery in St Petersburg. Earlier, the media had written that the Wagnerites who died in the crash and were travelling on the same plane with Prigozhin might be buried there.

There is currently no official information about the burial of PMC founder Wagner Prigozhin, but preparations are underway at several cemeteries in St Petersburg.
