Lithuania Explains Who Among Belarusians Can Enter Country In Case Of Complete Closing Of Border

The answer was given by the Lithuanian Interior Ministry.

Diplomats and asylum seekers will be able to enter Lithuania in case of complete closing of the border with Belarus.

This is reported by Delfi with reference to the explanation of the Lithuanian Ministry of Interior.

On Monday, it was reported that Lithuania is considering the possibility of closing two more checkpoints on the border with Belarus. Thus, a total of four border checkpoints will be closed. In this case, Belarusians will no longer be able to come to Lithuania for tourism and work purposes.

Lithuania has set out two main criteria, as to when the Baltic States and Poland will agree to close the borders with Belarus completely: first, an armed incident or incidents on the border of one of the states, and secondly, an organised mass attack of illegal migrants.

In case of a complete closure of the border, the return of Lithuanian and EU citizens to Lithuania will be ensured, the travel of diplomats will be allowed, and the arrival of asylum seekers from Belarus and other countries on humanitarian grounds will be authorised.
