The G7 Has Made A Groundbreaking Decision Regarding The Ukrainian Armed Forces

The main focus is on strengthening military and economic support for Ukraine.

The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries issued a joint official statement regarding the global geopolitical situation. The document focused primarily on strengthening military and economic support for Ukraine amid its successes on the front lines.

Air defense systems, long-range missiles, and their own weapons

The G7 heads of state expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people, who are suffering from regular Russian strikes on critical infrastructure and cultural heritage. They particularly highlighted the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield.

“We, the leaders of the G7, remain united in our unwavering support for Ukraine as it defends its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity... We commend Ukraine for its resilience and successes on the battlefield in recent months and emphasize that there is now a new momentum,” the statement reads.

To accelerate this new momentum on the front lines, the G7 countries have agreed on the following steps:

Strengthening air defense: Supplies of air defense systems, additional anti-aircraft systems, and interceptor missiles to Ukraine will be urgently increased.

Strikes against enemy rear areas: The G7 will significantly increase the supply of long-range weapons to the Ukrainian army.

Military production: The leaders are prepared to consider granting Ukraine special licenses, which would allow for the legal and large-scale production of foreign weapons directly at Ukrainian factories.

G7 leaders singled out Ukraine’s preparations for the coming winter as a separate item, promising to allocate additional funds and equipment to ensure the country’s energy security.

A Blow to Russia’s Gas Station and the Trump Factor

The G7 has officially committed to intensifying economic pressure on the Kremlin’s military machine. Western leaders plan to impose a new, powerful package of sanctions targeting Russia’s oil and gas sectors.

Interestingly, this economic blow to Russia became possible due to changes in the situation in the Middle East:

“We are committed to increasing pressure on the Russian military economy. In this context, we will tighten our sanctions, particularly in the oil and gas sectors. We believe that now is the right time to introduce additional measures, as President Trump has concluded an agreement—which we support—to reopen the Strait of Hormuz,” the G7 leaders emphasized.

As Iranian oil returns to the global market, the West now has the opportunity to completely tighten the screws on Russian fuel exports without the risk of a global energy crisis.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump officially announced the the cessation of hostilities between the United States and Iran. As a result, the Strait of Hormuz has reopened to civilian vessels, and Tehran has pledged to cease all attacks on oil tankers in exchange for the lifting of financial sanctions.

At the same time, the American leader is preparing a major surprise for Vladimir Putin. During the G7 summit in France, Trump demonstrated an unexpected willingness to ramp up pressure on the Kremlin to end the war in Ukraine and offered his European allies a unique geopolitical barter deal with tough conditions. Other partners also supported the intensification of sanctions pressure and announced new restrictions targeting Russia’s energy sector.
