Military Expert: 10-15km More Is Enough For AFU To Cut Crimean ‘Land Corridor’

It's not even necessary to reach Melitopol and the Sea of Azov for this.

The de-occupation of Melitopol is not a prerequisite for cutting the Russian rear into two separate regions.

The Ukrainian troops will have to advance just another 10-15 kilometers to cut off Russian logistics in occupied southern Ukraine and break the “land corridor” to Crimea.

Dr Jan Kallberg, a senior fellow at the Centre for European Policy Analysis, commented on the events, ABC Newsreports.

He says that Ukrainian troops are gradually approaching the critical logistics lines of the occupiers in the south, despite all the difficulties. If the Armed Forces continue to move forward, this will begin to affect the provision of occupied Crimea, the expert believes.

According to him, if the Ukrainian forces can go another 10-15 km south of the already de-occupied village of Rabotyne in Zaporizhzhia, this may be enough to disrupt Russian logistics.

"You don't really need to reach all the way to Melitopol to have a significant impact on Russia's options. You don't need to reach the shores of the Sea of Azov before logistics start to crumble on the Russian side," he said.

He noted that a lot of Russian logistics is not based on military transport, but instead on regular haulers, private companies with a far higher capacity per truckload.

"If they're under the threat of ongoing artillery barrages on the highways and checkpoints, the civilian part, unless forced to collaborate, will start pulling out,” Dr Jan Kallberg said.
