UAE Sheikhs Urgently Block Way For Putin's 'Shadow Fleet'

An unprecedented decision has been taken.

Putting UAE-based Sterling Shipping and Streymoy Shipping on the U.S. sanctions list late last year seriously alarmed the sheikhs of the Arab country and forced them to block the way urgently for Russia's "shadow fleet" involved in supplying oil from Russia to circumvent the price ceiling.

According to Bloomberg, the UAE has banned Cameroonian-flagged vessels likely carrying Russian oil from entering its waters.

According to journalists, 11 Cameroon-flagged tankers have visited Russian ports over the past year.

The UAE government noted that after the ban comes into force, maritime companies and ship agents will lose the opportunity to provide services to vessels from Cameroon.

Analysts are confident that this decision will help Abu Dhabi distance itself from the Russian "shadow fleet" and the risks associated with it.
