Trump Wins South Carolina’s Republican Primary

The former US president won all the races against his main competitor in the Republican party.

Former US President Donald Trump Donald Trump won South Carolina’s Republican primary, beating his former UN ambassador and last major rival, Nikki Haley, in her home state.

It is reported by the Associated Press with reference to the survey and preliminary results.

Trump has now swept every contest that counted for Republican delegates, adding to previous wins in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

AP notes that the former president's latest victory is likely to ratchet up pressure on Haley, who was Trump's former UN ambassador and South Carolina governor from 2011 to 2017, to force her out of the contest.

The publication adds that the 2020 rematch between Trump and President Joe Biden is becoming increasingly inevitable.

At the same time, Haley promised to stay in the race at least until the primaries on March 5, but could not defeat Trump in her state, although she held many more campaigning events and claimed that accusations against Trump would prevent him from fighting Biden.
