The details.
Ukraine will call on the G7 member countries to increase contributions for further assistance to Kyiv if the US Congress refuses to make a decision on assistance. However, apparently, American partners will still provide funds. Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko spoke about this during a telethon, writes RBC-Ukraine.
The official noted that one should always hope for a better solution to the issue to satisfy the interests of Ukraine, so there is every hope that the lower house (Congress) will find a solution, especially since there is every reason for this. According to Marchenko, Kyiv hopes to maintain direct budget support.
The Minister noted that the provision of support by the United States is important for cooperation with the IMF and “for creating a pool of partners of trust that are accepted according to the G7.”
“We constantly receive assurances from the American government that Ukraine will receive funds. Therefore, this option is the main one,” the Minister emphasized.
At the same time, the Ukrainian side is working on implementing other options. Serhiy Marchenko says that if the United States does not provide the necessary support, Kyiv intends to urge its partners in the G7 countries to increase the size of their contributions to replace American assistance.
