AFU Get Town Sudzha Under Full Control

Ukrainians captured a number of other settlements.

On Monday night, Ukrainian sources published a video of AFU armoured vehicles driving through the eastern outskirts of Sudzha. This may indicate that the Ukrainian forces managed to take control of the entire town. The capture of Sudzha has already been reported by the pro-Russian military blog of 'Veteran's Notes'. Another blogger Yuriy Podolyaka writes only that the Ukrainian armed forces are trying to close the circle around the town. At the same time, authorities have started evacuating two districts in Kursk and Belgorod regions, which may indicate a rapid expansion of the combat zone on the border between Ukraine and Russia in the area, "Agency" reports.

The video, published on Monday night by the ticktock account of "ZSU NSU SSO NP SBU", shows an armoured vehicle with a camera driving along the highway towards Suja past abandoned civilian cars and a memorial with a MiG-29 aircraft - which is the eastern outskirts of the town. Yaroslav Trofimov, a correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, saw this as confirmation that Sudzha and its outskirts are under full Ukrainian control. However, it is not clear from the video when it was taken. Military analyst Yan Matveev determined by comparing the situation on it with clips published earlier that it was not earlier than the morning of August 7.

One of the major pro-Russian military telegram channels of "Veteran's Notes" also reported about the AFU taking control of Sudzha. According to him, Ukraine is already bringing heavy hardware into the town, although the fighting continues.

Russian military blogger Yuri Podolyaka writes that by Monday morning the Ukrainians had entered and entrenched themselves in the southern part of Martynovka and started fighting for the neighbouring village of Mikhailovka (a northeastern suburb of Sudzha). "Thus, the northern claw of the Sudzha encirclement continues to take shape," he stated. The Ukrainians have advanced further north - part of the village of Cherkasskoye Porechnoye has been occupied, fighting continues here and in the neighbouring village of Russkoye Porechnoye.

The blogger noted that the AFU managed to hold on in Plekhovo and launch sabotage-reconnaissance group attacks against Russian positions near the villages of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Russkaya Konopelka. "If the enemy manages to occupy them, it will close the encirclement around Sudzha," he warns (on the map). In his opinion, this is where the AFU will concentrate its efforts on Monday.

Also, according to Podolyaka, the AFU managed to occupy Uspenka and Viktorovka on Sunday, and the battle for Gordeevka is still ongoing. In addition, the Russian Armed Forces have not yet managed to drive the Ukrainians out of Plekhanovo.

On Monday morning, Readovka reported about a Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance group entering the village of Giryi in Belovo district - south of Sudzha district, 12 kilometres from the border. According to the author of the video, one unit of armoured vehicles drove towards the village of Belitsa. According to the "Agency" and Yan Matveev's analysis, the location of the footage is the northern outskirts of the village of Giryi. This is not the first time the AFU showed up in Giryi - on Saturday, infantry with heavy hardware had already entered there, Yuriy Podolyaka wrote.

Meanwhile, evacuations have been announced in two more border areas south of Sudzha district. The head of Belovo district of Kursk region, Nikolai Volobuev, announced it. The evacuation of people from Krasnaya Yaruga district of Belgorod region was announced by the governor of the Russian region Vyacheslav Gladkov, explaining it by "the activity of the enemy on the border".

Since this morning, Z-blogs have been reporting an AFU attempt to break into the district through the international road crossing point in Kolotilovka. According to the telegram channel of "Two Majors", the AFU attacked the area of the crossing point by a tank platoon (3-4 tanks) supported by small assault groups. "Rybar" writes that "the enemy organised a firing carousel", using several units of heavy vehicles and small assault groups.

The pro-Russian military blog of "NgP razZVedka" reported that a helicopter "worked against the AFU forces". "Rybar" specified that since 7:30 Russian air force aviation of the Russian Air Force has been conducting operations against the enemy positions and advancing reserves. Shot's source reported around noon that the Russian military managed to repel the attack on the crossing point.
